Ribbon Cutting Draw Over 400 Community Residents

Superfood Marketplace Celebrates Official Grand Opening

On Saturday, April 6, 2019, over 400 community residents and city officials came together Saturday to celebrate the official grand opening of Superfood Marketplace at 543 Shaler Blvd. in Ridgefield, NJ.

City officials in attendance included, Mayor Suárez who performed the ribbon cutting ceremony, Councilman Shim, Councilman Jiménez, Councilwoman Larkin and Ray Ramírez, Borough Administrator/Recreation Director.

As special thank you Miss New Jersey Earth, Leighke Santiago who drew the names of the raffle winners, posed for pictures with event guests and on-site vendors.

We were especially touched by the winner of the 1stprize.  Mr. Ruben Flores won the 60 inch Smart TV.  Mr. Flores is an 87-yr. old disabled veteran from Puerto Rico, who fought in the Korean War and trained soldiers during Operation Desert Storm.  He recently suffered a stroke and did not have a TV at home, so his daughter, Raquel, entered his name in hopes of winning.   We had many entries so we made sure the box containing the raffle tickets was well shaken and happily, as fate would have it, his name was drawn. They have been customers at Superfood Marketplace since it opened and the staff has been delivering Mr. Flores and his families groceries, despite not having a formal home delivery service, just to help the family out.

“We are so happy he won the TV. He really needed it,” said Raquel. When the TV was delivered we swore we could see tears in his eyes as he posed for a photo with Superfood Marketplace Manager, Mr. Alesski.

Our 2ndplace winner was S. Lee who won an iPad and A. Batres was the 3rdplace winner of a $200 gift certificate.

Guests were able to sample food items provided by Tropical Cheese, Ducal, Premio Sausages, Rio Grande Tamal, Boar’s Head Premium Deli Products, Goya, La Llave Coffee, Del Frutal Nectars, and P.A.N. Corn Flour.  The aroma from Cubachon’s on-site Pig Roast greeted guests as soon as they arrived, and the pork served was a real crowd pleaser.  Fortuna Cigars had their expert roller at the event for anyone wishing to buy a premium cigar.

DJ Julian’s music made sure that the grand opening was a party, while the girls from The Source Dance Lab put on an amazing performance.  Ridgefield’s own Girl Scout Troop 96036 reminded us that it was cookie season and we were able to stock up on the sweet treats.
