Ingredients

  • 3–4 lbs pork spare ribs
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder (optional)
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • 1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey (optional, for extra caramelization)

Instructions

1. Prep the Ribs

  • Preheat your oven to 300°F.
  • Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs for the most tender result.
  • Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.

2. Season

  • Rub the ribs with olive oil.
  • In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, black pepper, salt, oregano, and cumin.
  • Coat both sides of the ribs generously with the seasoning blend.

3. Bake Low and Slow

  • Place the ribs on a foil-lined baking sheet or roasting pan.
  • Cover tightly with aluminum foil.
  • Bake for 2½ to 3 hours, until the meat is tender and nearly falling off the bone.

4. Add the BBQ Glaze

  • Remove the foil and drain any excess juices.
  • Mix the BBQ sauce with honey (if using).
  • Brush a generous layer over both sides of the ribs.

5. Finish

  • Increase the oven temperature to 425°F or switch to the broiler.
  • Cook for 8–10 minutes, until the sauce is caramelized and slightly charred.
  • Let the ribs rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
