Tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, these BBQ pork spare ribs are perfect for a family dinner or weekend cookout.
Ingredients
- 3–4 lbs pork spare ribs
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp chili powder (optional)
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp cumin
- 1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
- 2 tbsp honey (optional, for extra caramelization)
Instructions
1. Prep the Ribs
- Preheat your oven to 300°F.
- Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs for the most tender result.
- Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.
2. Season
- Rub the ribs with olive oil.
- In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, black pepper, salt, oregano, and cumin.
- Coat both sides of the ribs generously with the seasoning blend.
3. Bake Low and Slow
- Place the ribs on a foil-lined baking sheet or roasting pan.
- Cover tightly with aluminum foil.
- Bake for 2½ to 3 hours, until the meat is tender and nearly falling off the bone.
4. Add the BBQ Glaze
- Remove the foil and drain any excess juices.
- Mix the BBQ sauce with honey (if using).
- Brush a generous layer over both sides of the ribs.
5. Finish
- Increase the oven temperature to 425°F or switch to the broiler.
- Cook for 8–10 minutes, until the sauce is caramelized and slightly charred.
- Let the ribs rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
